My name is Austin Reid. I am running for State Representative as a Republican in the 78th Ohio House District. I am also a life-long resident of Amanda, Ohio and was educated Kindergarten through College right here in this district. I know what people in this community want and need, because I am one of you. We need to choose leaders to represent us in Columbus that have a vested interest in our communities. You deserve to be represented by one of your own, that’s what I am.
As the President of the Amanda-Clearcreek School Board I have fought for lower taxes. We have in fact ran our school district with no income tax levy for the last year, while also keeping the same standards. I help operate my parent’s landscaping and construction business, West Fairfield Inc. From reading blueprints, to estimating, surveying, and being a foreman on the job, I know what it takes to run a business. It was from my mom and dad I learned what it takes become hard-working. As a member of the Laborer’s Union Liuna Local 423 I work with real hard-working people. The blue-collar values I’ve learned in my profession will translate to my time as your State Representative. I will serve you and your family the way a career politician simply cannot. I also work part-time for my family business, Ruff’s Seed Farms and have the opportunity to deal with farmers in our community. These real-world skills and relationships will help me and I will try to bring these experiences to Columbus.
I believe that Ohio is a wonderful place to live and it can be a great place to do business. We are, however, being poorly represented at the State House. If we had representatives that truly believed in the conservative principles of small government, limited taxation, and traditional American liberties we could have a much better state. Our leaders in Columbus will only wise up if we give them the boot. They need to understand that they serve the people and not themselves, I’ll bring that value with me as your State Rep. In order to make the changes we want, we need to send new people to the State House. I hope that you will understand my sincere wishes to serve and make a difference in our community.
